Strange Problem--Please help

My Pro Tools (version LE 6.9.2 for M-Box) will not give me the option to:

Cut, either using shortcut apple-x or going to the Edit menu and selecting Cut. It also doesn't give the option of Copy or Paste.
It will only give me the option of "Separate Regions," apple-e.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Any info would be so appreciated--I have a deadline coming up. Thank you!
