Default Hooking up SSL2 to ProTools

I'm a newbie to ProTools and this forum. I recently bought a Solid State Logic SSL2 Console and I am trying to figure out how to get ProTools to pick up the signal. I have messed with the playback engine and IO and made sure windows was picking up the input and it is. ProTools still records dead air. I am baffled because there is no reason this should be happening.

Hi, welcome.
You should provide info on your system. PC, OS, PT version and such. Have a look here:

A quick tip would be to make shure that Windows audio is not going to the SSL, and press'n hold 'N' when you start PT, it will give you the option to select a interface for the PT audio.

Okay that might be the problem, but it appears some people have been able to run it with windows 11? At any rate, will ProTools come out with an update in January to officially support it?

It's both Avid and SSL that need to have support for Win 11. SSL needs to update their drivers to make things work. See this page for the requirements for the SSL 2 (which is NOT a console but an interface) https://www.solidstatelogic.com/prod...2?tab=features And Avid needs to make PT compatible with Win 11. 'Not supported' doesn't mean it won't work; it might work which accounts for what you've seen from other people.

Okay, didn't think about that. I guess all I can do for now is wait until updates come out.

I thought about it and ended up going back to windows 10 and now I have the ability to record! The only problem is I cannot get it to playback. The controls on the interface are correct and the headphones are plugged into it. Everything is set to send it to the interface, I can see the decibel bar lighting up on playback, I just cannot hear it.

First off make sure Windows isn't using it as an audio output.

Have you selected it as your interface in PT? Hold down the 'n' key on your computer keyboard when you start PT.

Windows had it wrong, I can hear now.

Another question I have is how do I pull up all of the additional software for protools such as First Air and such? I have downloaded it and installed it but cannot find it.
