Audio import dialog box - no preview audio

Hi there,

I have a Digi001a and us PTLE 5.1

Anyone have any ideas as to why I can't hear any preview audio when I select a file for import - the progress and level bar is working (i.e. moving up and down) yet there is no sound. I also seem to get this no preview problem when I ue audiosuite plugins too.

the audio file needs to be 16 or 24 bit and 44.1 or 48 khz. if its not, use an audio editor like goldwave (free) to convert it first.

The files I've been trying to audition in the import audio box are already mostly 16 or 24 bit and 44.1, so it must be something else!

Any more ideas?

Hi Simon,
I've had that happen too, and I truly believe it's a 'streamer' (like WindowsMediaPlayer,QuickTime, etc.) that's conflicting with PT.
Had you been able to hear it before, and recently loaded or changed something different? Usually that's what I've done. Also, on 'streamer' programs, I set their 'Formats' to the very basic things I want them to do, like 'CD Audio', 'Video', etc.

I haven't been using the DUC much over the last 9 months, so it's great to get quick replies from th eold trustworthies!!!

I'll try your suggestion - I do have winamp and windows media player installed.

No joy. I uninstalled both WMP and Winamp but I still cant audition audio.

I'll try and reinstall the Digiwave drivers and see if that helps,

Any other experience of this???

Hi Sofine,

Just check what your default sound comes from. Do you have another soundcard in your machine? Chances are it's trying to play through that.

It's definitely trying to play through your sound card. Try plugging headphones to the output of your sound card and see if it's playing. Also, check the properties of your windows audio mixer and make sure nothing is mutted or turned way down.
I use a little mixer to route the playback for the 001 and soundcard. That way I can hear whatever I'm working on without any patching.

In the I/O setup dialog, you specify which outputs are used for auditioning the audio -- make sure they're assigned to the correct outputs.

Thank you! I can't believe I missed that option in the actual box itself!! Probably coz that option is in a Mac font (I use a PC) - or coz I'm a dumbass [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

Anyway, its working fine now and you've saved me lots of time in my projects now,
