Default Importing session data

I am about to mix an album that is a good candidate for using a consistent mix setup for plugins, exterior hardware and to a large extent for interior bussing and master effects. The songs have many tracks in common but have unique tracks as well.

In the past I have tried starting from a template of the mix setup and importing the audio data into the appropriate tracks. Then bringing in the unique tracks.

This method worked, and is reminiscent of doing the same process on a console, but seemed a little clunky to me and did not save a significant amount of time compared to just setting up the mix by hand.

If anyone does this regularly and has any tips on improving the workflow, I would appreciate the help.
