Not sure what an mx1 is but this is how you could do a stereo fx processor. Connect a pair of outs say 7+8 to the L and R in of your processor. Then connect L and R out of the processor to inputs 7+8. Now label the ins and outs for convenience. Create a stereo auxilliary in and make it's input interface 7+8 (or whatever label you've used) make the output output1+2. On each channel you want to effect, set up a send to 7+8 and and bring the send fader up. The reverb will come back in on the aux in. Make sure the processor is set to mix 100% wet and adjust the level of the reverb with the send fader or the aux in fader. You'll find this works as an insert if you select it.

Help: Setting up External devices
I am trying to set up an mx1 as an exturnal effects device and send it back into pro tools. I want to be able to use it both as an insert and send and be able to hear it on the main 1/2 IO outputs. I have know idea about this one and need a little help. I have 5.1.
