Default Mac MINI Users

Hello!

I'm on a late 2012 Mac MINI, maxed out to 16Gb RAM, the required MINIMUM for PT 2018.

Do I have to dump my faithful, worked-flawlessly-for-almost-four-years MINI?

Please let me know, before I upgrade PT, and upgrade to High Sierra, and end up with a very expensive paper-weight.

I’m on a late 2012 i5 Mac mini with 10g of ram and 275g of SSD (I want to update to 16g of ram but right now it runs great). Also I’m on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3 with Pro tools 2018.1 and it’s so stable. I really hope it will go this way for a long time.

PT 2018.1 standard is minimum 16GB but the current mac mini i5 dual core is supported, which is 8GB and not upgradable. I have one running 12.8 fine but I’m just a hobbiest.

I don’t want to hijack the thread but I’m curious about how many tracks do you usually have on a normal session? The largest I had until now were arround 70 - 75.

I don’t use libraries or extensive midi, I mostly record real instruments, and for orchestra and choir music (classical or film) I don’t go more than 16 tracks (192khz)

Based on what you folks are saying, I should be O.K. My heaviest project ever, had about forty tracks.

My concern was, whether or not PT had gotten "fatter"and greedier, with all the new features.

BTW, has anyone here upgraded to "High" Sierra?
