Default Replacing firewire with scsi, need some help!

I am about to replace my firewire drive with a scsi drive, i'm COMPLETELY new to ALL of this scsi world, any recomendations as to which cards/drives to consider at a "reasonable" price? I have heard of the Adaptec 2906 but am still interested in other options. I am using my system for strictly audio w/mostly midi. ANY info regarding scsi cards/drives will be greatly appreciated.

From http://www.digidesign.com/compato/pt24g4agp.html :

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:<HR>SCSI HBA Cards:

For maximum track count, the G4 requires the use of a qualified SCSI HBA card. Optional SCSI HBA cards bundled (by Apple) with Power Macintosh computers are not compatible with this configuration due to the lack of NV RAM to store Pro Tools desired SCSI transfer rate. The following SCSI HBA cards are qualified with the G4s listed at the top of this page:

ATTO ExpressPCI SCSI HBA card EPCI-DC (ExpressPCI Dual Channel Ultra/WIDE HBA, also available in the Digidesign SCSI64 Kit) with the following requirements:

ATTO ExpressPCI Firmware v1.4.4 f1

Available at: http://www.digidesign.com/download/ptutil.html

ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 or higher with Synch Transfer Rate set to 20 (10) and PCI Burst Rate set to 32 bytes

Supplied on Pro Tools v5.1 or higher CD-ROM, or at: http://www.attotech.com/software/

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

also have a look at http://www.digidesign.com/compato/drivereq.html for more specific HD requirements.

cheers,

Joost

Ignorance is not bliss! I just learned that my Maxtor firewire runs at 5400rpms, not 7200rpms. It's not the firewire itself, just the speed, sorry for the waste of time everyone, but thanks for the responses.
