Mono or Stereo?
Hi everyone! My name is Juan and I have a Digi 001 which I am using with Protools 5.3.1. for LE on Windows XP. When I record Audio from MIDI ( for example something I’ve recorded from my keyboard in MIDI) is it better to record in Mono or in Stereo? When I record vocals or guitar is it better to record in Mono or stereo? When I bounce a song to disk which format is best, Mono (summed), multiple mono, or Stereo interleaved? Thanks a lot, Juan
PS I have a Yamaha 640 keyboard, to record stereo from my keyboard to the digi001, should I use 2 mono or 2 stereo cables? |

Re: Mono or Stereo?
1) It depends if the sound source itself is stereo or mono.
2)Vocals- generally in mono. Guitars- depends on what sound your going for. Stereo is wide. Mono can be positioned anywhere it the sound field. 3) Stereo interleaved is probably your best bet. 4)Keyboard L/R out with a mono cable in each jack going into 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, or 7/8 of your Digi001. Try to do a bit of reading on Home Recording/Miking Techniques. You seem to be very new to audio. Good Luck!
