I was wondering if it sounds or works better than C4? And how much DSP it needs to run?

There are pros and cons with the MC2000 vs the Waves C4.

Pros - it's less of a dsp hog. You can get 2-3 band MC2000's on *any* of the chips. The C4 takes up a whole chip - and needs a specific type of chip. The sound is a little clearer to my ears than the C4. You can get just as tweaky as with the CompressorBank - because that's what it is. You can configure as 2, 3 or 4 band.

Cons - the interface isn't as cool as the C4, and it's a bit more difficult to use. The C4 tells you exactly what's going on, which is nice. But once you have your settings right on the MC2000, it rocks. The Waves is more "out of the box" in terms of ease of use. Much of this may be due to presets (hopefully we can swap some?<g> )

It's a similar comparison between the Ren compressor and the compressorbank. The C4 is 4 ren comps, the MC2000 is 2,3, or 4 compressorbanks.

How does MasterX by TC compare to these?

I have a feeling that once I get my hands on MC2k I won't be touching TC very often.

God, I love those guys.

If anyone from McDSP is reading, thank you for the comp and eq! Keep em coming!

Ang1970,

Hey thanks for the nice commentary about McDSP! But...we cannot take all the credit - you folks make our plugIns sound good with your engineering skill and attention to high quality production - thanks for making McDSP a part of your DAW!

You gotta love this guy... How many other designers really pay attention to their users and reply so quickly like Colin does? Not many!

I myself should add to the testament of the McDSP products - since I bought FilterBank and CompressorBank I have used few others. Nearly every time I've been able to get the sound I was looking for from either plug-in without needing to go elsewhere. It may take a bit of tweaking to get it right, but the ability to shape these plug-ins is there. I'm also very impressed with the power and efficiency you've been able to get out of the Digi-DSP. Keep 'em comin' Colin!
