Video Slave - new non-linear VTR software now available

Just bought a Video Satellite LE system, and I can hardly imagine anything better than that.
TC burn in is a nice feature, but really - that's what the video guys are doing, when they deliver the picture, so I'm not worried about that.
How about latency when starting playback? That always has been a PITA with Gallery's Virtual VTR. With a Video Satellite, there's none.

Pricing is nice of course. Might win the race against Gallery.

I totally agree with you that a TC overlay might not be necessary that often as the TC should actually be burned in. I made the experience that many sound guys - especially composers - seem to get the same H.264 playouts the editorial makes for the directors. Thus, it might be possible they don't have a burnt-in TC and an extra overlay can come in handy.

The delay between starting the TC and Video Slave playing back in sync is typically ( depending mostly on the used codec ) about 1/2 second. That's basically the QuickTime startup delay, so there's nothing much a programmer can do about it to make it any faster.

The project "Video Slave" is just at the beginning and we have a lot of features in mind that will make it a much more versatile product in the future.
On the list are things like LTC support, streamers and punches, BlackMagic and AJA card support and more.
