Default DIGI002r booting up issue

While I was working on a session, MAC reported that it could not access hardware for PTLE, I rebooted the 002r, disconnected and reconnected firewire connection and it came back up. Then the next day when I turned the 002r on, it booted up without any MIDI or Firewire connection lights, but after a clicking noise, they were up and everything worked. The third day, I noticed that it did the same thing, it sat there for a couple of minutes and then after some clicking, everything worked.
All my equipment is connected through a power conditioner.
I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue, and what could I do to rectify this.
Thank you
Syed

Syed,

Yep, it's most likely the infamous power supply - power harness issue.

Call Digi tech support, I had the same exact symptoms as yours, although some units
go down completely when they fail, mine was intermittent.... failing occasionally,
but failing more and more as time went on. It was explained to me that this was due
to the power supply putting out a "borderline" voltage.

See my recent post "002R Fixed!! But, a warning...."

My warantee was just about due to expire, but other users have been able to get
their units repaired (when it was this problem) when thier units were out of warranty.

Give them a call, and I hope it works out well for you.

Hope this helps.....

Dave

Search this forum for 'power harness'. Contact Digidesign.

This is a very common problem on 002 and 002R, and in my opinion, they really botched it.

Thank you Dave,

I called Digi support, and even though the warranty period was over, they sent me the harness (wire) right away. I have replaced the cable, and it has resolved the issue.
Thank you for your advice, I was really getting woried.

Syed
