Default Modern alternative to 002

Hey guys after realising i have to upgrade my much beloved digi 002 desk in order to jump from PT 9 to 11 can anyone please tell me 'IF' there is a modern day equivalent which will allow me to have 8 faders and all the same ins and outs, i realise from browsing that i am completely out of touch with where this is all at and i thought it best to ask the professionals - i love turning up to work with this desk and having everything all in one desk. From what i gather its all gone touch screen or down to 4 faders.

I find it strange that Digi decide to allow their software work with almost any interface (or maybe I'm wrong about this too) yet not their own. Always forced to shell out when we are happy with the products. That said maybe the 002 will still work - there are plenty of guys out there reporting success.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks

The only all-in-one package I am aware of is the 003(which I have for sale as I just went HD/Native). Other options would combine an interface(dozens of choices there from MOTU, RME, Focusrite, etc) and a control surface like the Avid Artist series or the Behringer X-Touch(if it ever ships)

My little Presonus Faderport gets a workout

Let me add a serious option; Behringer X32(full size, or Compact). It works very well as an interface(the mic pres really sound great) and its HUI control in the latest firmware is very good.

I have a 002 rack working.
Try the PT's 11 demo on a backup partition.
(Don't forget to install the drivers)

Its worth checking out the Allen and Heath QU 16 if you dont get your 002 working on 11

Has more in/out than the rack, more faders although the faders are slightly more narrow than the 002/003 fader banks (closer together)... Direct Multitracking right into PT and is fully automated.

Should be able to get one for about 1700 which is a little more money than the 003 (can get one used for like $800) but you get more features (like 16 mic pre's instead of 4)

The 002 CAN work with PT11 as an audio IO box, but none of the control surface will function. My 003 is $725 plus shipping
