Pro Tools 2020.5 won't launch on Mac mini

I have a 2018 Mac mini 3.2 GHz 6-core i7 with 64 GHz running on OS 10.15.5. I didd a "successful" install of pro tools 2020.5 but it will not launch. It always quits at this stage of the launch: Initializing midi engine. I've done a clean install of the OS, and protools and even wiped the hard drive. the Mac mini is brand new. Does anyone have a fix?

Hi, thank you. Yes, I have been in contact with avid support and they have guided me through some steps over the last month and a half, but to no avail. I’m just getting impatient and hoping someone out there may have had the same experience and was able to find the remedy. Fingers crossed....

Have you tried holding “n” key during launch Then re select your playback engine?

Have you tried deleting the Audio MIDI Setup Prefs and also subtracting Aggregate from CoreAudio then relaunching?

Prefs would be com.apple....

Yes but what exact playback engine are you selecting when you get to the playback engine dialog panel. That's the whole point of holding down the N key... to let you pick the correct engine... and are you? You should be testing with "Built In Output" or whatever it is called on your mac... just the stereo output no input, and not using an aggregate device.

Also make sure your Mac does not have the user's home directory using iCloud... that's a total disaster waiting to happen.

For the "clean install" you booted off the recovery partition and restored or did you do a clean download of an installer and build a boot/installer USB stick? I just want to make sure you really did a clean install and did not say accidentally do an OS update.

Make sure the user is an admin account (should work without as well, but set it).

Try creating a new Admin user and running from that account.

Its extremely unlikely that there is such a generic bug in Pro Tools, and it's unlikely this is a hardware issue on your Mac... so it's much more likely something you are doing in setting up your system.
