Angry "Pro Tools not responding" error and a very "laggy" session! Help!

Well this is my first post...

I tracked some drums over the weekend without any issue. I began the editing process, still, everything seemed fine. I went to switch the playback mode on my kick track from samples to clicks... that is when everything went to hell. I remember pt started converting the track which was taking an exceptionally long time so I tried to cancel the operation. I then set the playback back to samples.

Quantizing has been a nightmare. I cant mover around in the session for more than 30 seconds without the screen going white and giving me the "pro tools isn't responding error." I have tried to trouble shoot and narrow things down a bit. This problem is specific to this session alone. Other sessions (even much larger sessions) run fine as they always have. You can rule out my computer as well. Its not a powerhouse, but its doing the job for the next month or so.

I've even tried saving the session as a template by including the media. Forget about that, I couldn't get a single file to copy over. PT just sits there thinking aimlessly.

I'm stuck, and I'm very frustrated because I've put countless hours into meticulous editing so far.If anyone can give me some ideas or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!
