vision FX driven by audio
Hi DUC..,
Im hoping there is a plugin or if ANY of the editing systems can have their FX driven by the audio or by MIDI. Meaning, I need the filter control and the FX are output to be dictated by the audio. refer to 'Tagaki' on the apple site or all over u tube. I’m being lazy and should really have a good look at the net or help files.., but I think there might be some here that have a handle on something one might easily miss Cheers M:)

Re: vision FX driven by audio
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're talking about, but an example of what I think you mean is Adobe After Effects.
In AE, anything that you can animate with keyframes (which is just about everything you can imagine plus a few more) can be driven from an audio layer. It isn't difficult to do but neither is it automatic or real time (i.e. the audio needs to be supplied to the animator to render and composite in AE). You have to import the audio to an After Effects project, create an audio layer in a Composition and then generate keyframes from the audio. The keyframe values are based on the amplitude of the audio only. Then you apply those keyframes to whatever animation or effect you want. This is native functionality built into After Effects. There are also thousands of AE plug-ins available so there could be one that does something with audio directly itself.

Re: vision FX driven by audio
Trapcode SoundKeys allows you to pick a frequency range and an audio peak (i.e. a snare or kick drum) to trigger a video or filter or a motion effect. It will work with Final Cut Pro, Adobe AE, Motion. I don't think it will work with Avid.
Here is a link to a video demo of SoundKeys http://www.trapcode.com/in_action/soundkeys_intro.html http://www.toolfarm.com is a good source for plugins. http://www.toolfarm.com/plugins/index.php/Audio
