need help updating mbox2 firmware to v1.43
I need to update my Mbox 2 firmware from v1.38 to 1.43 to make it compatible with linux drivers.
I am running the updater from here: http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=24364 in "XP compatibility mode" via Windows 7 but continue to get the error: "Firmware update failed. Failed to download firmware." Am I doing this wrong? Is the update no longer supported? Is there any other way to update the firmware on my Mbox2? Thanks for the help! |

Re: need help updating mbox2 firmware to v1.43
Have you tried installing the latest drivers for the Mbox 2? I thought the firmware updates where built into them, but I may be wrong.

Re: need help updating mbox2 firmware to v1.43
It works with the Win XP drivers and Pro Tools LE for Win XP, and it works with the "Mbox_2_USB_Family_v90265_Drivers_70922.zip" installed on my Windows 7 machine. But none of the drivers have changed the firmware on the Mbox2, and I need the 1.43 firmware update for Linux compatibility. Do newer versions of Pro Tools update the firmware automatically?

But I would like to update Mbox2 firmware to 1.43 and I have exactly the same problem with error message. Looks like digidesign/avid server stop holding this firmware. |

Re: need help updating mbox2 firmware to v1.43
so firmware version 1.38 is working with Ubuntu 16.04 for you?
When I plug the Mbox2 in and select it as Audacity's recording device in Ubuntu 16.04, I get a sample rate error if I hit record. Maybe a fresh install with MATE will help. Thanks for the info. |

Yes, you're right. I installed Adacity and is sample rate error while recording. But audio for youtube, movies and music working fine.

Re: need help updating mbox2 firmware to v1.43
I'm stuck on this. I'm trying to use my Mbox 2 Micro as a soundcard on my Pi.
Linux Jesse recognises the device on asla but no sound comes out. It lights up and give an encouraging squelch like it used to indicating it's being driven. But I have nothing I can't even remember the firmware I have on it. I'd like to get some help on testing it on linux. Somone here said even on 1.38 the sound output works (that's all I need). Edit: I was able to get the firmware updater on my Win 10 machine and it told me I already had the correct firmware. Incidentally I tried to update anyway and ran in to the same problem as OP. Still begs the question, why isn't audio coming out of the M Box 2 Micro from the Pi? It works fine on my Windows machine. Last edited by square_eyes; 08-18-2017 at 04:28 AM. |

Re: need help updating mbox2 firmware to v1.43
Hi. This post features prominently in google for people looking to upgrade their MBox 2 to a version that works in Linux. 1.38 is sufficient for this purpose with kernels 5.0.0 and above. Which is good, because the 1.43 firmware updater just doesn't work, regardless of how you execute it.
Kudos to Avid for keeping old binaries around, and allowing me to get my old MBox 2 from the 1.1 series up to 1.38 and keep it out of the landfill. Some one else had the same problem: https://gist.github.com/vectorsigma/...ef6c9c2686797b |
