Default How to sync Protools with Nuendo.

Is there anyway to midi chase Nuendo to Protools without using midi cables? What I want to do is emulate the midi connection internaly so I can sequence my soft synths in Nuendo and send the outputs via lightpipe to Protools.

I think you'll have to use midi cables.

Use MTC from Nuendo to trigger playback of PT. Also get PT to lock to word clock from Nuendo. This will be your most reliable setup.

If you use MTC trigger from PT I don't know if Nuendo will continue to follow as PT MTC is not continuous (triggers GO then nothing). Might work if you can tell Nuendo to free wheel if incoming MTC stops.

Don't forget the word clock ... it's the only thing that will keep you in sync.

protools does detect start and stop through MTC.

Maybe you ca run the combo without cables if you use HUBI's loopbackdevice or midiyoke (these are virtual midicables).

To have both programs locked, feed spdif from the slave to the master.

Make sure you run both sessions on the same samplefreq, and the same framerate in MTC...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Ya, that's more along the vibe I was looking for. I have enuff cables all over the floor. I don't need 2 more midi cables I guess the best option is to get a second computer! The problem is that I'm too much of a minimalist. Thanx for the input

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">go rackmount and use this thing called midi over lan (like hubis except over lan). the demo works great. imagine: two 2-unit rackmount cases with server boards (onboard lan/video) and digi001 on one machine and your favorite soundcards on the other. a few patchbays and a mixer and you're all set...
