Default Automatic Delay Compensation

Hmmmm, was surprised to find out that Pro Tools LE doesn't do automatic latency compensation when using external devices like a reverb. I have busses set up to feed the outputs of my soundcard, which are then feeding 2 outboard reverb units, the reverb outputs are then feeding 2 inputs on my I/O card. The audio of the reverb returns are being returned to AUX tracks to monitor. Does anyone have a simple, fast, efficient way to calculate the latency that the outboard reverbs are creating? Then suggest an easy solution to delay the existing tracks so that they synch up with the external reverbs?

I was thinking of setting the Mix blend on the outboard reverbs to "0" and recording a track. Then matching up the original track that fed that reverb to the track that was bussed out to the unit and then recorded. But then what is the best way to compare them and what is the best way adjust the other tracks to synch up?

Default Re: Automatic Delay Compensation

there's a Feature Request petition which was circulated to ask digi to
please add PDC to a future LE release. given that $99 programs have it, it
seems rather silly to relegate this functionality to TDM. (see the Feature
Request link on the top of this page ... on the far right of the "Search the DUC"
line.

i usually bounce a click track to a track and use that as my sync check.
i clone the region to the track i'm sending to the insert and
the original .. it's very obvious when they don't line up and u can use
fine-resolution nudges to figure out what the delay should be on the
primary tracks. why we have to do this is a mystery at best.
