Default Not sure if this is a latency issue, but def need help!?!?!?

I'm fairly new to protools but I've recently run into an issue where any sound a try to record in any track slighty begins (milliseconds) before the first bar. This becomes a problem when I cut and paste bars because it throws my loops off. It looks as if it's a sort of reversed latency issue. Pro tools hasn't given me any problems til now.

Please help

Maybe its me but your question is confusing(but I'll take a shot here anyway). If you have audio that starts before a grid line, and you cut and paste using grid mode, the audio is still "there" but not seen. Do this to see what I mean. Copy a region using grid and paste it at another spot where it fits(for the moment, the audio before the grid line is not there). Once the region is pasted in its new location, choose SLIP mode(instead of GRID mode). Now, using the Smart Tool(F6,F7,F8 together) place the cursor near the front of your newly pasted region(that starts right on the grid line) so you get the [ symbol and click/drag backwards(toward the beginning of the song) and you should have more audio appear on the front side of the grid line. Not sure if this answers your question so if not, try to explain what you are trying to do in more detail. BTW, if you are in GRID mode, holding the Ctrl key will put you in SLIP mode while the key is down(handy for a quick non-grid edit).

Thanks for the reply albee. Although your method does work manually, I was wondering is there some sort of way I could adjust some kind of setting to get to the source of the problem. This just started happening maybe a week ago and had never happened prior. I'm honestly not sure if i clicked something wrong or what.

To try to be more specific, when I record any track, whether it be stereo or mono, the waves are slighty off to the left off the first bar (I mean millseconds off), causing a slight gap of air between the last note recorded and the end of the last bar of the loop. I actually noticed this because I always add an extra bar in front of the first bar to eliminated any latency problems (just in case). This allows me to see what's actually going on when I zoom in. It sort of looks like a reverse latency issue.

Just to be sure we understand:

Is this an issue that began recently and did not occur at all for you prior to this?

Had you made any changes to either software or hardware just prior to this issue beginning?

I think you should give us a concise description of your entire recording process, including how many tracks are in your session, what plug-ins you're using and on which tracks, which track you're recording to and from which input and how you're doing your cut and pasting of bars. Be as descriptive as you can, as I have a feeling that it's something in the details that's going to be the culprit.

To try to answer everyone at once, I've bought the Mbox2 in early january, and it originally came with 7.4, but I installed version 8 about a week ago. This problem started during version 7.4, and even though I completely uninstalled 7.4 and installed the update this problem still occurs. As far as buffer rate:

Buffer size: 2048 samples
RTAS Processor: 2 processors
CPU Usage limit 85%

DAE playback buffer
size: Level 2
Cache size: Large

I have a Dell Inspiron I purchased from the guitar center, running Vista

Thanx guys
