Default Software Synth Recommendations ???

With DirectConnect and other similar technologies now in place, I am researching sofware based synths and looking for recommendations and any other considerations. I've always been a KORG fan (t3,m3r). I also have Yamaha TG-77 and a Proteus that I would love to replace with software based synthesis. Thanks in advance...

Emagic just came out with one, the ES1:

The Unity seems to be the other popular one. I like Harmony Central for researching these issues:

FYI, the ES1 only works with Logic, not protools.

The Koblo Studio9000 bundle is excellent. It's the first Direct-Connect compatible product. They now have a distribution deal with Digidesign.
4 modules in there: Vibra9000 is a monosynth with a fantastic sound --great filters, Stella9000 is an 8-voice sampler with the same great filters which reads SampleCell instruments, and Gamma9000 is a drum machine. There's also the Vibra6000 which is a slighly reduced version from the Vibra 9000.
You can download a demo from www.koblo.com --register as member for that.

I take it that you can not try the vibra 1000, the free synth with Direct Connect.
I thought the tokyo engine was what was supported but after downloading and installing all three there is no Direct Connect option in the dialog box. Anyone know for sure.

I downLoaded the Studio 9000 [all three parts] and Vibra 1000 is free, the Others Time out [Demo], and works fine with Direct Connect.

I found there to be a 40 to 50 ms Latency when using Direct Connect. There is a Whole Post on this subject.

Reaktor by Native Instuments is another cool SoftSynth that will Support Direct Connect soon!

Unity DS 1 is a sample Player SoftSynth that is cool doesn't support DC yet but if a Latency of 40 to 50ms [with Unity] compared to SampleCells 1 to 2ms Latency I might buy another SampleCell.

My vote is for Reaktor..it is quite simply amazing. Extremely flexible and sounds great.

Will the Koblo Studio9000 bundle and Direct-Connect work with Digi001?

I found in my (quick) tests that there is a 50ms latency, but the present version of DirectConnect isn't the final product --maybe they'll improve timing. Or maybe Tokyo is to blame, but there's no way to find out until another DC app is available.
