Hi,

I have just downloaded this mastering suite plugin "ozone" as a trial from isotope! and was wondering if any of you people had tried it or are using it and what the verdict was? Reading the PDF that came with it, it looks very comprehensive with every aspect covered!!

Any thoughts people?

also, i have tried there spectron fx plugin!! really cool and not expensive!!

Regards

Chris

I bought the Ozone Plug in a search for an alternative to Waves, and I feel it was money well spent. I have heard that because it is not true tdm that it is a compromise, however I am not feeling compromised at all.

Be warned if you have a full mix and you insert on the 2 bus you might get some artifact noises, but only on a few sessions.

Given the cost comparison to Waves, I feel it gives the L1 and L2 a run for the money for way less.

Just my opinion.....

Hi,

My opinion so far is that it surpasses the L2 by a long shot!! it is a complicated beast and very easy to over doo things, but this is hammered home in the manual. It's great having so many parameters to play with, and my first test mixes have given some excellent results.

I'm a bit curious about the CPU usage!! as it doesen't seem to be showing any use!?

Also the stereo imaging is either very subtle or not working as i can't really hear any difference!! maybe i was just tired at the end of a sesiion.

Any more opinions?

P.S. The trash plugin is great for amp simulations and has a really nice delay section! i'll be buying that!!

Chris

Ozone 3 is terrific. First off, the EQ Matching feature in the EQ section is the bees knees!!! I've made an entire EQ curve library from other songs that I use for final "matching" of some mixes to get the same overall sound for, and it works like a charm.

Second, the limiter IMO easily rivals or surpasses the L2 in terms of quality and usability. Then there's the dither. Ozone uses the MegaBitMax dither algorithm, which to my ears (and many others) beats every other dither out there, including Pow-r type 3.

And without getting into the other features, the phase and correlation meters built in are a great help with addressing any phase issues in the mix.

Overall, I'll be surprised if Ozone doesn't become the standard mastering plug for most non-official mastering jobs.
