Start with trashing Pro Tools preferences and see if that fixes it.

Read the standard troubleshooting steps under the "Help Us Help You" link up the top of every DUC web page. Which will explain how to trash prefs, that will also explain the typical information you should be providing here.

The link that Peter provides gives you a utility that for trashing prefs that is easier than doing it by hand, but you should take the time to understand what that utility is doing.

If that does not work come back here with additional information and a clear description of what you have tried. Including importantly what exact format file you are trying to import. And what else you've tried after trashing prefs... like testing the import from a a new empty session.

Was this ever resolved? Does anyone know how to fix it? I am getting the same error message when I try to import audio.

System details:
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
High Sierra 10.13.3
Pro Tools 12.5.2

Tried trashing prefs and restarting computer and neither helped.

Same issue on my computer having completed an update to High Sierra. The error message reads:
Could not complete the Import Audio command because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/151228/ProTools/NewFileLibs/Cfd/MacBuild/../MacOS/Cfd_ImportAudioDialogMacOS.mm", line 575.
