Pro Tools HD 10 Update confusion?

I believe I need to uninstall my previous HD10 installation before upgrading to 10.2

Do I need to do a "safe" or a "clean" uninstall?

What happens to my custom plug-in presets and custom controller plug-in maps for my C|24? I REALLY don't want to loose these!

I always just run the updater on top of my previous installation - it works fine.

And as it warns you: If you run a clean uninstall, you´ll need to start all over again with installing plugins etc. Personally I´ve never used that option, but for other reasons, I´ve had to run safe uninstalls.

Clean install is only necessary for major updates (8 to 9 or 9 to 10 or whatever) but all point updates can be done without uninstalling everything.

I did a "clean" uninstall first thing this morning before you guys replied. As soon as I did it I thought crap, I'm going to have to reinstall all my plug ins.

However, all my third party plug-ins remained in place after the uninstall and installation of 10.2. My custom plug in presets, plug in maps and PT templates were also retained. I backed these up thinking I'd have to manually put them back in place.

I DEFINITELY clicked on "clean" uninstall!
