Default Sound Cutting Out

Hi,

Can anyone advise please? I have just setup my Pro tools LE 8 and when I am creating a track with instrument and play it back the sound is cutting in and out. I have increased memory usage but it is still doing it and with whichever VST I use.

My computer is vey powerful so I don't understand why it is doing it.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

try a Sandra report and post it here.. So we have more info to work with.. :)

What buffer settings are you on? And what do you exactly mean with 'increased memory usage'?

Hi Gerard,

Thanks for the quick response. I have had to dual boot as my normal OS is Windows 7 x64. I am using Vista x86 to run Pro Tools and have adjusted memory to use 3 GB. I normally run on 4GB.

I can't attach any Sandra reports yet as I have only just joined the site.

My computer specs are

Intel Dual Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3Gig
4 GB of OCZ memory
Creative Soundblaster X-treme music soundcard
2, EvGA 9800 GTX super super clocked graphics
1 KW PC Power & Cooling PSU
4, 300 GB Seagate Barracuda hard drives. 1, 750 GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive.

I increased the buffer size to 2048 samples.
RTAS 2 processors
CPU limit 85%
Disk buffer is level 2 cache - large

I hope that this helps.

I am using the the synths that came with Pro Tools for now. If I load Boom and playback the sound is jerky.

I have changed the buffer to 2048 samples, reduced processor to 1. Moved my page filing system and the playback and record to another hard drive and still it is jerky.

I am wondering whether I need to uninstall and reinstall the program.

Any advise out there please?

Change it to 1 RTAS processor. PT is weird about that, works better with odd number of cores, i keep mine on 3 since i have 4 cores. Here is the Sandra link.

I am using Pro tools LE 8. M-box mini, Oxygen 49 keyboard, Vista x86 SP2.

I have changed the processor to 1.

As I have said before I can't attach any files. I am assuming because I have recently registered.

If you look at my earlier posts I have changed a lot of my system configuration as shown in another thread about setup and configuration.

A Sandra Report is cpoy/paste, no attaching. That's why we use it.. :)

Try getting rid of the other soundcard you have in there. That might help...

Default Re: Sound Cutting Out

Tried it without the Creative soundcard and it is the same.

If I start pro tools and create a new track and add a click then add Boom and play back a pre-loaded beat sample it cuts in and out.

I have now run out of ideas aprt from reinstalling windows clean and pro tools.
