Default 12.4 co-install w/10.3.10 & 11.3.2 Remove old versions of 10 and 11?

I've currently got 10.3.9 and 11.3.1 running beautifully together on Mountain Lion.

Downloading 12.4 now. Before I install my "new versions of 10 and 11" (10.3.10 and 11.3.2), do I have to remove the "10 and 11" that are already on my hard drive?
Manually remove, I assume?
I've found a links for the "manual remove", but if anyone has them handy, let me know.

Can one just install the new 10 and 11 "over the old". I know people will say a clean install is better, but I've never had issues with this "overwriting" in the past.

Would it be different now, due to "12" installation? Did I surrender my old Licenses for 10 and 11 anyway when buying 12? I believe so. How does that impact the above?

Please advise…and THANKS! Best to all...

You can have a 10/11 co-install or 10/12, but not 11/12 (there are workarounds, but not supported). I would uninstall 11 before installing 12.

That's great. A 10/12 co-install would work fine for me.
I'll remove 11, as you suggest.
Can I keep my 10.3.9, or should I move up to 10.3.10?

You should be ok to keep the 10 version you're on if you wish. Check the release notes for the latest 10 and see if it has anything you need/want.

I just installed 12.4 and kept 11.3.1 kicking around (I just renamed the app to "Pro Tools 11.3.1") and both versions seem to have no problems whatsoever co-existing on Mavericks.

I even opened my current session in 12.4, made some changes, added plugs etc, and re-opened it in 11.3.1 and not a problem.

I don't know if this holds true for all, but hopefully this bit of info helps.

To the OP, cover your ***** here. My method: remove the system drive just as it is and set it aside. Install a fresh(blank) drive and install Yosemite(or el Cap if you feel lucky) and 12.4 and test. If it runs well, add the rest of your software and plugins. If its a mess, you can always pop the old drive back in and get work done

Last bit of advice; if you have projects that are not finished, you might consider waiting until they are done and gone before messing with a good-working setup

Thanks for that always good advice, Ablee.

I see now---there's no "real" need for PT 11, because 12 "replaces" 11.

However, just in case, I wanted to have both, for the time being. I renamed 11 "Pro Tools 11", and now I have PT 10.3.9 / 11.3.1 and 12.4 working well together on OS 10.8.5.

In fact, one plugin (Eventide Ultra Channel) will open on 11, but not on 12. On the Eventide, they indicate it's not been tested / approved for 12. So, until I sort that out I can use 11 if I want /need that plug-in.

I only had one weirdness installing 12, and perhaps I'll post separately about this. The installer for Xpand_II_12_0_Mac_84541.dmg had me installing it over and over again. Every time I installed, Avid Application Manager indicated that I still needed to install.

I checked, and it's in this folder (and it shows up in the sessions) so I think all is well: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins

Thoughts on any of the above?

Worked out my Eventide issue by going to their site and downloading the latest version.

Shows you the wisdom in: making sure all of your plug-ins are up to date!

Eventide Ultra Ch now works in PT12.

If I wanna lose PT 11, I assume I can just drag it to the trash from the Applications folder?

Uninstall 11. Don't delete it. There's a huge difference.

It has to be because you have installed samples on other disk.
