Default 12.6 project freeze - 9173 - Had to force Quit :(

Hi there,
I am still getting 9173 errors in Pro Tools version 12.6
I had a pop up window - telling me of a CPU overload while informing me to remove some plugins

This 9173 Error completely froze up my whole computer making me perform a forced shutdown of my Mac (ie; press and hold power button)

I was trying to Master a stereo Audio track at the time ...,
Therefore I only 2 stereo audio tracks initiated in the project .., plus a stereo Master track

Audio track #1: contained the stereo Audio + a plug-in chain of 4 plugin inserts

This was being bussed to Audio Track # 2 (this was intended to be my 'with FX printed' track)

The Crash / 9173 error occurred 10 seconds into the recording of the Audio 1 track into the Audio 2 track.

It is impossible I ran out of CPU power with ONLY these 2 Audio tracks and 4 plugins running + a master Track

see signature below for computer specs
pro tools 12.6 +Yosemite 10.10.5

Check plug in versions. Update all plug-ins. Download black magic disk speed benchmark tool. Insure your disk isn't performing out of spec. If it is run diskwarrior and check the volume and directory/file integrity and structure.

just some thoughts.

Good luck

Hi Chad ,

Thank you kindly for offering your advice

I took your advice onboard and purchased the disc warrior APP as you recommended.

After making my USB stick recovery boot drive (with the Discmaker recovery maker)

- I started up my Mac Pro in recovery mode from the USB Recovery stick , and after boot up I then ran Discwarrior from the on screen selection box.

From information provided by Discwarrior ...,
- I noticed my Mackintosh HD (ie; my Macs built in OS system PCiE drive) was given a score 6 out of 10
So next I proceeded with the repairs while still being in Boot Recovery mode with Discwarrior 5 to get them back to a 10/10 score.

(while still in boot recovery mode) ..,

- I next performed Repair Disc Permissions etc via the Discwarrior APP - to finally complete All maintenance and repair tasks to my Macintosh HD Drive.

After another restart .., I then checked each and every other external drive with Disc Warrior . These all received opening scores of 9 out 10 from Disc Warrior , but I still ran the repairs anyway to get them back to 10/10 to ensure things were as good as can be. I also ran further checks an all the files in the drives also

I also downloaded the Blackmagic Disc speed tool , but these were fine, with average 1200-1350 mbps for my Pro tool write drive (ie ; lacie little Dig Disc 1TB PCie Thunderbolt2)

it is too late in the evening ATM , but I will try Pro Tools 12.6 again tomorrow and hopefully Discwarrior ironed out a few wrinkles for to help make Pro Tools run a bit smoother and error free (fingers crossed) .

Once again , Thanks Chad .
