Getting I/O working between Logic and 001

Win 98/SE, Pro Tools LE 5.1, Logic 4.7

My Pro Tools works fine but I cant get my Digi to work as the I/O with Logic. I followed the advice of other posts but no luck. Disabling the Audio and Midi DigiDesign Drivers got rid of the "Error 6010", but when trying to use Direct I/O and launching Logic gives "Error 6002" regarding Direct I/O not initializing.

Any suggestions?

Here is some stuff I saw but you have probably
already seen it. Maybe looking at it again might
get you thinking. My first thought was that maybe
Logic 4.7 had a bug. They are on version 5 now
I think. Can you update it?

All you need is to install the digi WAV driver because it includes the Direct I/O software.
The WAV driver installation files can be found on the PTLE CD or on the Digidesign.com web site.
After installing the WAV driver install Logic Audio.
In Logic go to Audio Menu | Audio Hardware & Drivers | Audio Driver 2 Tab
and select Direct I/O.
Most of the time you will want to check "Universal Trackmode" and "Software Monitoring".

Go to Control panel | multimedia | devices tab. find "midi for digidesign" properties and select do not use.
You are supposed to do the same for audio for digidesign. I didn't disable the audio because it prevents the other programs from using the digi001 e.g. wavelab. All that will happens is that when you start logic, you will get a message saying "cannot initialize directi/o" two times. Just click ok.

Wait!!!! even more. The first time you run logic you will get a message that you need to select a sound driver (or of that sort). if you don't get that message or you have problems, do this:

In logic, go to audio, audio preferences, audio driver 2. select directi/o. don't select anything else if you do, logic will look for those other cards. the direct i/o is for the digi001. If you don't have a digi001 select the corresponding driver (asio for a asio compatible card). (note) logic can handle more that one card so if you have a digi001 card and another card you can select both cards and use all the inputs of both cards.

FOR EVERY LOGIC SONG YOU EVER WORK IN. make sure of this. in options, setting, synchronization settings, make sure nothing in MIDI is checked and make sure nothing in GENERAL is checked. or else logic will look to sync with a device and lock up when you hit play. (note) when you import a midi file logic tends to re-check those settings. remember to uncheck them again. I u don't want to uncheck every time you start a new song, make templates!! its what I do.
