Hello guys,
I'm building a new system and I'd like to get your help before I shell out the cash. Here's what's in my wishlist so far: Motherboard - ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE WD800AAJS 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive Firewire card - SIIG 1394 3-port PCI Card Model NN-440012-S8 Which specific memory do you guys recommend? I want to get 2gb or 4gb. What do you guys think? All recommendations are welcome.

1. Asus will have a "qualified vendor list" for RAM. See what they recommend.
2. That 80GB drive is okay for a system drive, but you need a second, dedicated drive for audio. This is imperative!!! And since they're so inexpensive these days, why not go for a bigger C drive (like a 160 or 250) and grab a 250 or even 320GB audio drive? I'm running a PAIR of SATA 500gb drives on my small, backup M box system (one OS drive, one audio drive) without a hiccup. What interface are planning on using? |

Thanks. Will check what Asus's website says about the RAM, but I still like to hear what the users here recommend since they're testing specific configurations with PT.
Sorry for not mentioning this before, but I've already built a few of these DAWs with the help of the guys here on the DUC. I already have work/client/sample drives. The 80GB drive is the system drive. I'm going to be using a digi003 on that particular system. More suggestions welcome.

You want 4GB If you can afford it. I would follow Toms advice as the P5Q and P5Q Pro should be very similar.

You need a physically separate hard drive for your sessions, internal being best. I only see one listed.
Cheers,

Hey,
Bruce- - I already have the session/sample drives. Class-A - - I've been using Vista for a little while now on a few systems and things are pretty stable, so I'm going to stick with it. Keep the suggestions coming...
