Default simple XP questions.

1) Can I use XP home edition to run PT 5.3?

I understand I need the service pack, which I download from the Microsoft site:
2) Is it true that I have to have a bona fide registered copy of XP to do this (and so give even more money to uncle Bill?)? Is there any way 'round this?
I've already doshed out for 98 and 2000...

regards
Karel
