Default Is no one else embarrassed by Elastic Audio?

I've been doing some remote but online mixing tweaks for an artist, it's been working quite well as it goes, but I always feel a pang of embarrassment whenever there's any sort of stretching involved.

We've got 4 different algorithms in PT, and frankly, they all sound sh*t. I just wanted to stretch one word on a vocal - one word! - without the pain of loading into Melodyne etc etc. "I'll just switch on Elastic, that'll save some time." Big mistake. A weird lump when using "Polyphonic". Transient smudge when using "X-Form". Goodness knows what Monophonic was trying to do, absolutely useless. And didn't bother with Rhythmic in this instance, but I've had various amounts of joyless pain with that before now. And don't get me started on the various rendered files that just decide to disappear from one day to the next.

Is really the best on offer in 2021? For shame.

Feel your pain. As much as it's a headache to import into Melodyne, that's really the state of the art right now. If Avid would ever adopt ARA2...

Studio One, Cubase/Nuendo, Reaper and Logic make life so much easier in that regard. The ARA integration in S1 is so fluid, that Melodyne literally disappears into and becomes one with the app.

It's pretty bad, yeah. I've been wanting to buy a license for Elastique TCE but can't swallow the cost for fixing something that should work well out of the box.

I hear ya, bru! its literal ****, but even worse , some of my stretched/compressed files dont like to play nice with the downstream mixers protools .....its weird, and random....the timing glitches are grainy as hell.....its so old.....

200$ [400 HD] per year for this "feature" of sub par tools. when they are readily working in 4 other hosts.

I use Waves SoundShifter with some success, but sometimes it sux too... I have SoundShifter set as my default TCE tool in ProTools prefs, so it's quick to use. Next time, though, I'll try Melodyne.

I found that SoundShifter sounds incredible when run at 96k rather than at 48 or 44.1.
