Default \"vinyl\" or \"old 78\" effect plugin?

Does anyone know of a plug that can take a stereo mix and make it sound like it was being played back on an old 78 or earlier type of phonograph player? Yes, with scratches and all -- I can get the sound (EQ) but I need all the variations (pitch/EQ, etc...)

Is there anything that can do this quickly?

Thanks...

Unfortunately, it only works with OS9 (will work in PT Free), but the best vinyl plug-in I've ever used is Opcode Vinyl. It's so much better than Izotope, it's not funny (it will do anything from a wax cylinder to a modern LP). I keep an old Mac up and running expressly to use it.

I'm surprised that there isn't more competition out there for a sound degrading plug-in (something that would do vinyl, radio, telephone, etc.).

Since it's free, you really can't complain about Izotope, but for anyone who's actually listened to a lot of old recordings, it just doesn't cut it.

There's a plug-in in Ableton Live4 (also in the version bundled with PT) called Vinyl Distortion. Try it.

Yeah, it's not the real thing -- but I'm going for an "effect" for a part of a song -- then it morphs into a more modern sound... it's all abotu the attitude, not realism, and the free plug got the job done.

I rememebr Opcode's plug but unfortunately, do not have an audio card on any machine that can run it --

That's twice this week we speak of Vision. What a shame...

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Lee-

Thanks for reminding me. I have an old G4 dual boot, with the LE version that supports the M-Box on OS9. Went digging in the closet, found my CD-ROM of Fusion: Vinyl, and even a floppy with a 1.1 installer update! (I had bought this years ago for use on a film, where they show old 78s being played in war-time Poland)

Installed it, booted ProTools, and voila! Glad to have it back among the living. Thanks for jogging my memory.

Craig
