Looking for an interface that works with Pro Tools 5.1

Um hate to be the bearer of bad news but MBox only worked with PT LE. It's a completely different program and quite limited. If you have a working Mix system I'd leave it be and figure out why you're not getting output. MBox will just be an exercise in frustration even if you get the installer and authorization.

Does your Windows rig have an ADAT or AES input? Or you could locate an 888 or cheap ADAT DAC.

Of course those v5.1 sessions will open just find in modern PT. You'll miss out on some plugins but it's another option.

Oh great! Right after I bought the original Mbox too. Wonder if this ancient Mac can upgrade to LE.

I've tried everything to get output from the ADAT. It worked fine two decades ago but that was using a big ass Mackie D8B board. Since then nothing's worked to hear audio.

The Mac PT files don't read on my Windows PC. I'm using NTFS not exFat.

It's starting to look more and more like I'm gonna have to painfully convert all the files to .pts on Mac without hearing them before converting to PTX in Windows. Ugggh.

Have you checked the playback engine is TDM?

That sounds like you need to reset the outputs back to default on the hardware i/o page...

You nailed it with setting the I/O back to default. It made the ADAT Bridge appear in my sessions output instead of only 1-2 (stereo). I can now finally hear audio through the analog outputs of the ADAT Bridge.

Thank you so much original_min for that insight. Sometimes it's just the little things I sometimes miss that makes all the difference.

Great to hear it finally works for you.

In hindsight one more thing just popped into my mind. If you had removed the cards and the mixes used DSP olugins, going native those plugins would be inactivated and therefore songs would sound different.

One thing that's strange about clicking on the I/O default and having it find the ADAT Bridge. It only did it on the first session I tried it on. Clicking on the default in other sessions doesn't find the ADAT Bridge. Can't figure that one out. Fortunately the workaround was to export the I/O setting from the first session that did find the ADAT and importing it to the others. Kinda sucks having to do that other step but at least it's working.
