Default Where should we be getting AIR instrument updates?

I feel ashamed for having to ask but it seems that every time I update my AIR instruments I'm getting them from the wrong place. I seem to remember Avid telling me to get them directly from AIR... or did AIR tell me to get them from Avid...?

I only know that MacUpdate is telling me that every single one of those instruments (Loom, Hybrid, Velvet, etc.) has an update available. Last time I downloaded them they were the versions which needed an authorization file to authorize -- I need the iLok versions.

I’ve been downloading updates from the AIR Instruments website for a long time including betas of Apple Silicon versions. The installers are at the bottom of each product’s page. They’ve all installed and authorised without problem here. I have authorisations for them on my iLok. All the ones you mention are still in beta for AS and have been for far too long!

I’m only running the Hybrid beta at the moment and MacUpdate tells me the AU version is out of date but the AAX and VST version from the same installer are OK.

MacUpdate is great but not perfect. U-he Diva is always out of date here!

I'd grabbed a couple from AIR's beta page (a link was in an email they'd sent months ago) but those were the ones that required authorization files. I'll take a look at the individual product pages.

And yes, MacUpdate is magical but not (yet) perfect. It should include an option to exclude betas that we're not involved with so that we're only seeing relevant plugins.

edit: welp, as it turns out, MacUpdate was being shortsighted, though I don't know why. It was listing the current versions of AIR plugins as "?" and then showing that newer versions were available. Newer than "?" -- what a surprise!

This wan't the case in previous months. Back then it listed their proper versions numbers. What I have installed are the betas, with version numbers even more recent than what MacUpdate thinks are available.

Also, it looks like those betas haven't been updated in many months. I'll check back in another couple months.

The Hybrid beta I got here didn’t ask me for an authorisation file….

As mentioned, I have a Hybrid licence on my iLok.

The individual product pages for the likes of Hybrid and Velvet still have Intel only downloads for Mac.
