2) Time shift in PTS 7.3LE.

I looked at the short video 2 on the Digi site on PTS 7.3Le about the time shift, and the results are mind blowing and amazing stuff. My point is this I copied his settings exactly and I cannot seem to replicate the same sound quality and results he got on the Digi site PTS 7.3Le Video 2. Does anyone know how to get the amazing results Digi got?

You need to make sure you set the audio range to the proper value. If it is not set correctly, you will get results as you describe.

The settings used in the video were for HIS specific situation. If your source audio is different, or any other number of variables exist, you will not get the same results.

The Time Shift Plug-In Guide does a pretty good job of covering all of it's features. Using those features in the manner that you need/want is really up to you; you need to learn how to use the plugin for your specific situation.

Range

The Audio Range pop-up menu determines the
frequency range for analysis: Low, Mid, High, or
Wide. For low-range material, such as a bass guitar,
select Low. For mid-range material, such as
male vocals, select Mid. The high range control
is for material with a high fundamental frequency,
such as female vocals. For more complex
material that covers a broad frequency
spectrum, select Wide.

In Polyphonic mode, Wide is the default setting
and is usually best for all material when using
the Polyphonic audio type.

In Monophonic mode, Mid is the default setting
and is usually matches the range of most monophonic
material.

The range pop-up menu is unavailable in Rhythmic
mode and Varispeed mode.

I don't know if I can give any better examples than that. Seriously. That is very straight-forward and to the point.

All I want to do is use it to get backup vocals male and female exactly with the same sound quality on PTS Video 2 on the site with a audio quality deterioration.

How are you and a very happy new year to you and family.

I can see Cary's point even though I havnt spent much time with this plug.Does it do what it says on the tin,,,,I wonder?
There cant be that many variables on a simple mono phraze.Even changing or stretching a well tuned vox note and changing every parm within the plug ,it still doesnt work.
You'll probabally say its the way you change them,but then again there are only so many ways.

What are we missing here? or does it simply require very specific audio.

The idea is brilliant but not excecutable IMO.

Actually I think I got it now. I read the pdf at length after I posted and I also went back to the digi sites accerlated vids. Basically, the Brit in vids is using monophonic mid (default and should generally work for most male voices) and the formant was only dialed to either -2.5 or 1.5.
I am guessing the formant control works best in the negative range since lower pitchs are less suspectable to clipping.
The Brit host, then only used modest pitch shift -3-4 or +3+4 semitones and then on one short sample, a +5 semi tones and even a more modest formant setting -2.5 / 1.5.
The PDF talks about raises the formant value to +5! I tried it ,but gets a little funky, and metallic.
I was curious to see how close it would make my voice like a chicks voice, it didn't get too convincing. Basically, in a harmony use it is more convincing. You definitely need to reduce the gain at least -6db, to avoid clipping.

I would be curious if anyone understands the relationship of ratio settings as in the vid : formant -2.5 and then pitch shift -3 and -4 OR formant 1.5 then pitch at 3,4,and 5. Is this just tweaking to the mixers taste?? I tried these settings with the pitch slightly out and or with the formant slight different, and it started to get metallic on some transients. Anyone understand the relationships???

I have a somewhat scratchy voice and am wondering if that is why my use of the timestretch feature also sounds like a robot? I cannot get it to sound useable at all. I have tried different settings all over the place with no luck. Timestretch is why I upgraded.Anyone know why My harmonies sound nothing like the video? I am in key also. Even checked it with Antares. Thanks
