Unhappy protools LE8 8.0.5 mbox 2 pro mac 10.6.8 midi interface with Yamaha P60 digital piano

Hi there - I've got my Yamaha P60 digital piano with midi connected successfully to my ProTools MBox2 Pro with the midi cable running out from the piano to the midi input on the box.

In my ProTools session (running LE8 v8.0.5 on mac 10.6.8), I'm not sure which kind of track to use - Instrument or Midi?

When I use Midi track, it looks as though it is setup for midi output only.

In either case, I can't get any sound levels happening from the piano, even though I went through the Audio Midi Setup process and tested successfully.

I unchecked the "midi thru" box in setup. Any other clues?

I just want to be able to record my piano into ProTools. I've done it before successfully before I updated ProTools and my OS.

Thanks,
-Catherine

If you want to record the piano, connect the piano and mbox with a AUDIO cable. Piano output (probably stereo) to mbox line in (L & R). Record on a stereo AUDIO track. Midi doesn't transmit audio. It sends 'note on - note off'-signals to trigger sounds in synths, dum machines, virtual instruments in PT, and so on.
