Audition problems in Import Dialog Box?

I recently installed OS9.2 on a recently acquired dual proc G4. I then installed PT 5.1. I'm unable to use the audtition function in the Import box. When I click play the meter in the dialog box displays a frozen reading and the file does not play. I've tried re-installing PT with no change.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
