Omni suddenly not seeing TB Interface

I went to launch a project I've been working on and some strange behavior started. My Omni wouldn't recognize my Avid TB interface. Also certain track lanes would be black momentarily once the session loaded.

I'm running HD Native system with a maxed out 2018 Mac Mini. I'm having to use the TB3 to TB2 adapter. Also, using a Caldigit hub for additional USB devices and spdif output. I removed that hub to test, but nothing changed.

My Mac system report still recognizes and identifies the TB Interface, but the Omni just doesn't want to play nice. I tried switching ports on the Mini and on the TB Interface, but no luck.

Luckily, I still have my old trusty 5,1 Mac Pro with the HD card, so I was able to continue working after a PT/Eucon version update.

Any suggestions?

You mean launch session or cloud project?

What exactly do you mean by "not seeing"? The omni does not show up in the playback engine choices? What are you using as the playback engine when the tracks are not looking correct?

macOS version info? Pro Tools versions. is your signature up to date? Anything changed recently?

Have you been using an external power supply on the HD Thunderbolt box? (if so make sure it's still connected and working, measure its voltage).

Make sure nobody swapped a mini displayport cable for your Thunderbolt 1/2 cable.

What are you using as the playback engine when the tracks are not looking correct? IT HAD SWITCHED TO A ZOOM CONFIG, SO IN HINDSIGHT, NOT MY PRIME CONCERN.

Thanks for the extra info.

Mmm 2022.7... so no longer needs a DigiLink license key, but make sure that Pro Tools is actually starting up as "Ultimate" in the splash screen/About Pro Tools info. It's so easy to say mix up iLoks or have multiple iLoks connected and one is not fully plugged in or has broken etc. If it's not working look at the licenses on the actual iLok with ILM.

Where exactly does the Omni show up in the System Information/System Report utility for you? (maybe post a screen shot?) Does it show up in Audio MIDI setup as a CoreAudio device?

If that is not it I'm stumped, especially given you have shown the Omni works OK on your old rig. I expect current Thunderbolt HD and/or Omni users may have a much better ideas.

You may be onto something with the iLok. I'm going to check that out once I switch back over to the Mini for testing.

It was the Omni's external TB device that was shown in the System Report. I can't remember the exact report wording - something like TB HD Native.

Well, it wasn't the iLok...

But the Avid Mac HD Driver Loader fixed my issue. I didn't even know that the little utility existed.
