Default Pro Tools Crashes when bouncing to mp3?

Hello!

Sometimes PT10 crashes when it bounces an mp3 to disk.

I made a printscreen of what is shown: http://imageupload.org/en/file/189217/pro-tools-crash.jpg.html

I have the same problem on two different machines. For me when I bounce to any format, protools crashes about 10 or 20 seconds in, it just hard freezes and I have to end the process to get out. What I have found is if I am mixing or editing for a while and then bounce it will crash. If I save all work close protools and reboot, then load protools and bounce right away it makes it all the way through the bounce. I have yet to figure out why tho.... Maybe this will help you.

What you are experiencing seems to be a little different from what i am experiencing. I can bounce to Wav without any problem. When bouncing to mp3 it bounces the whole track, but when it starts converting it crashes. I end up with an mp3 file on my desktop, but it is damaged and won't play.

The same thing is happening to me! I tried to all possible configurations in the playback engine but without success.

The only workaroundI've found was to simply export normally to WAV and then use WinLame to convert it to mp3.

This is a little boring because sometimes you just want to take a snapshot for the client to hear it, and you have to export it in WAV 16bits with a dithering plugin, and only then you can convert it with Lame. Sometimes you just want something quick, and this option to export directly to mp3 would be very nice, if working correctly! :/

Great that someone can confirm this, so it isn't just a bad installation or some strange hardware problem in my computer. Anyone from avid who knows about this?

I really don't know, maybe we should report it.

Can someone post this problem at ideascale in the Bugs category?
