Kudos to you. I had similar issues but couldn't figure out what I did to get it to work. I do know on my laptop I had to disable the sound card in windows to use it for PT 9, but that was the onboard sound card.

justus1900, I know this is an older post, but I'm having this issue with PT MP 8.0.5 on a Windows 7 laptop.. Worked a couple hours in a Mastering Template I made up, and after doing a mix on the next session, I went to open the Mastering Template only to get the message " Playback engine does not support sample rate of 96kHz" If you're out there Justus1900, you mention you unclicked two Tabs in the Sound Engine for Windows 7, rebooted, and all was well.. Might you direct to the tabs you were talking about? Also, could there be a setting in the session I was mixing before I went to open the Mastering template that could cause this to happen? Thank you, Richrdc

What he did comes down to not using your interface as the native audio I/O for Windows. This has always caused conflicts because the various driver types (ASIO, WDM, MME, DirectSound, WASAPI) do not play well with each other. So if you want to successfully use your interface with Pro Tools, you need to make sure it is not selected as the default Windows audio device and it is also not currently being used by another program.

Hello there, justus1900,

I'm having the exact same problem. Which forms did you unclick in your system to get it to work?

Appreciate all help I can get.

OMG that was two years ago with Pro Tools 9 I am now on Pro Tools 10 and 2 years smarter with Pro Tools which means if it aint broken I dont fix it, I dont remember what I did 2 years ago, I know I went Control Panel --> Sound. selected the interface when I saw it and clicked on something until it worked sorry, I just dont remember and IM in the middle of a HUGE 99 track Mix right now so IM not going to mess with my system and try and recreate the problem and fix it, plus I dont even use the M-Audio Profire 610 any more I use a M-Audio Fast Track C600 USB interface now so I might not be able to recreate anyway.
