Default Help with Dual Boot on Dual 1 ghz QuickSilver

I'm about to add a new hard drive to run OSX. I currently use a Digi 001 and OS 9 and want to use BFD, so I'm upgrading to PT 6.4.

I want to keep my OS 9 seperated from OSX for clarity reasons (PITA to re-install everything in OS 9 too, since it works flawlessly now).

Can I mount the new drive as a slave?

It's a 80 gig Maxtor 7200 rpm (8MB cache).

yes - the new drive is a slave drive. It'll work fine installing OSX on that drive - did it to my old G4 . The only thing that you might find is that the OSX drive won't appear if you target the G4 as a firewire drive.

You can essentially turn a Mac into a firewire hard drive for transferring data to another machine. You hook up a firewire cable between both macs, and hold down "T" as you boot the target machine. It then appears on the desktop on the other Mac.
What I'm saying , is that you may not be able to see both drives if you do this - my G4 only shows up the OS9 drive when in target mode. It's no big deal though.

Ok, I installed the Maxtor hard drive. Had to do it as the Master, since OSX woun't take second fiddle as a slave drive.

OS 9 boots up fine with an (Option) boot up.

Now the problem is that while booting up into OSX, the curser can't click anything. It moves but can't activate any buttons (like a freeze) so I can't set up internet or anything. It did this many times to get the DVD installed (I was up all night).

BTW: I only installed one DVD out of 3, but it said OSX was installed.

I want to make a custom install for optimum audio performance, since there is over 3 gigs of stuff in OSX. ....but one thing at a time. Geez, who said Macs were easy ? @%$@#$%!!!
