digital clip problems
Hey, I think I remember this coming up before, but I can't find the thread.
I'm getting a kind of digial clip or click during playback. At first I thought it was just my dodgey monitors but when I bounced it to a cd they were still there! Any ideas? Cheers |

Re: digital clip problems
umm...well, it could be number of things.
Most likely you're clipping somewhere in the mix. Maybe a track, maybe the master fader. It could be some sort of a clock mismatch. Post a little more info about the problem and people here will have a much better idea of what's causing your clipping. -chris

Re: digital clip problems
Check your mix, your Audio tracks, AUX, Sends, check your Master and all your plug-in I/O's.

Re: digital clip problems
ok, well none of the tracks, sends or master fader are clipping, ie nothing is going into the red.I have loops on some of the tracks but on each 'joint' I have a cross fade. The clicks don't just sound during these loops and when I solo each track individually they appear on each of them!
I don't have any midi tracks, just mics and lines in (guitars from pre amp). In some places it is quite constant, kind of like a clock, but mostly it is irregular! Thats all the info I can think of! Please help!!! |

Have you recorded anything else, since the last recording, when you discovered this noise? What I'm saying is, maybe you had captured this noise. Have you tried re-recording one of the piece's, to eliminate this possibility? filosofem

What pre amp are you using and with what Digi hardware and software? You say that this noise is irregular so on each playback this noise will be heard in different positions throughout the waveform? Sorry, yet again I don't have a solution for you, just narrowing down some the possibilities. With any luck Rail might latch on to this one. filosofem

Re: digital clip problems
Hey there.
I had a similar problem - in the end - one of the factors causing this clipping was the external hard drive. Switched to a different hard drive - the problem went away... SparkyCanada

Re: digital clip problems
the pre amp i'm using is a behringer v-amp with PT 6.4 on a 002rack.
When I say the clips are irregular I mean that its not constant like a ticking clock, but it stops for a while and restarts, sometimes its louder than others, but they are in the same positions on each playback...i think I hope its not my exterenal drive!! Cheers for the help so far. |
