One “other” question ,

I’ve heard from a pro audio dealer here in EU, and other sources that the Carbon was designed by DAD in Denmark like the MTRX...
I thought I read that Carbon was an in house Avid design.
Any answer on this? Perhaps the Carbon takes some elements from the MTRX?
Thanks !
I can confirm that Carbon was completely designed by Avid. It was not a partnership with DAD as was the case with MTRX Studio and MTRX. Carbon and MTRX Studio look similar though as they share the same hardware design language.

Hi all.
Building my Carbon rig here in Amsterdam.
I’m wondering if there’s a new estimate for M1/Big Sur compatibility - now with the announcement of the new iMac ...

Anything on the horizon ?

Thanks

Avid tells about new estimates when they release it

Does Carbon come with an iLok key!? Or are we supposed to use iLok cloud!?
I hear iLok cloud works great when on location and there is no WiFi

If you have money for Carbon maybe you also have money for brand new iLok key (plus spare) as well. Don't forget zero downtime + theft and loss coverage.

Last time I checked all my HDX systems came with an iLok key so what does that say!? People who buy HDX are too poor to buy an iLok key !?

Key word here is "system". The key comes with the card and the software. I have never got a free license key when I have bought interfaces.

What are you talking about!? Does it not come with a software license? And if it does wouldn't that then make it a "system" ? And as far as I know no other Avid interface comes with a Protools license.

Until few years ago, PT was still sold as complete systems (card, interface, license) and those included license key. DigiDesign era HD systems even included printed reference manual, but Avid got rid of that.

So Avid Carbon is not a complete system hence the omission of an iLok key that only comes with complete systems. Got it.
