Re: PT 9.0.5 Update finally available for Lion
Use with caution- 9.0.5 represents the public *beta* of PT9 and Lion compatibility.

Re: PT 9.0.5 Update finally available for Lion
Any reason to hesitate installing 9.0.5 on 10.6.8 Snow Leopard?

Re: PT 9.0.5 Update finally available for Lion
glad to see this released publicly, i figured lion users would have to wait until 9.0.6 but here is my question... how do you install a 9.0 disc onto lion if it give you an incompatible OS message. just a question I have is all. I will not update to lion until OS X Liger is closer to release. so that would be around 10.7.8 or so.

Re: PT 9.0.5 Update finally available for Lion
You'll only get that Incompatible Software dialog if you update Snow Leopard to Lion with an existing install of Pro Tools on the system (and specifically, the 002/003 driver support.)
You can install 9.0. onto Lion and then update to 9.0.5 if you want, but I suggest doing a full install of 9.0.5 to a fresh Lion install (and by fresh I mean Lion installed on a blank partition, not an updated Snow Leopard install.)

Something to consider is that Apple has pretty well run out of big cats to use for the naming of OSX. Lion also suggests that it is the "king" release. Perhaps OSX has seen it's run and the next OS could be something along the lines of OS11 (OSXi even? ).

If you check in your Avid account... there is a download for a 9.0.5 full installer.

Re: PT 9.0.5 Update finally available for Lion
10.6.7
PT 9.0.5 update PT will no longer open, but quits on launch. Twice so far, with Mac restarts & trashing all preferences & setup files. I'm going to hunt down that full installer before I go back to 9.0.3, but I'm wishing right now I hadn't pulled the trigger. |
