Default 32 channels non Avid I/O, thing of the past?

With new engines coming soon, my college and I were wondering about 32 channels max recording with non avid I/O.
Is it not the best time to let this stupid rule also be one of the past.
I mean for recording 128ch Dante, I don't wanne take a lot of gear with me...

I hope Avid sees a opertunity here.

I completely agree. Because of these arbitrary rules, I no longer use Pro Tools for live recording. I prefer the environment but will not go that route because of the avid tax. Avid - please lift these ridiculous limits that serve only to hurt your customers, and many will return.

Also hoping for some actual features for everyone to be released sometime this year...

Yes, please. Many had to go to other DAW's because of this limit.

The best time would have been about a decade ago, tbh. "Need brooks no delay, yet late is better than never." - Eomer in LotR.

YES PLEASE.

One cable 64 channels in and out. With computers only getting stronger, I'm sure Audinate will make DVS have more than 64 channels soon.

I really want to buy the Audinate's PCIe Dante card to give me 128x128.
Put the Avid logo on it, that is what Yamaha, Focusrite and SSL did.

We know in software 32 is an arbitrary number in a look up table. This is an easy feature request! Protools needs to have no more limits. Please make my Focusrite RedNet 5's obsolete!!!

I think I will loose my mind if I can playback 2048 tracks and only record 32 at a time.

Please and thank you.

An update would be nice.

I too had to switch over to Logic for live recordings via Dante. The 32 track limit in Protools Ultimate was a limit.

PT Ultimate does NOT have a 32 track limit. PT regular does however. Whether the I/O is Avid or not has nothing to do with track limits.

PT Ultimate however has 32 i/o limit when non-avid interfaces are being used. If you have a million i/o on CoreAudio, PT Ultimate will use first 32

Are we talking about interfaces as in say a blue 192 or about the interface card that's in the computer like an HDX card? You certainly don't need to run an Avid ad/da converter to get more than 32 I/O.

Any interface that is connected in any other way than HDN/HDX is limited to first 32 i/o
