Default Digi 002 in standalone mode with ADA8000

Hi everyone
I recently switched from Sonar to Digi002/PTLE7.1
I have purchased an ADA8000 for the extra 8 inputs, and wondered if someone could guide me as to and what settings to make with the 002 IN STANDALONE MODE. I have read Pages 103-104 of the Digi002 Get Started manual, as well as the many posts using the ADA8000 for recording, and am still stumped
I often want to use the 002/ADA8000 as a 16 channel mixer in my studio, without recording...
Has anyone sucessfully accomplished this?

many thanks
Mal
