Default dumb question about L1 and L1-DLA

Hi
I´ve got Waveshell 3.2 here (upgradable to 3.6).
I have a vocal track with:
CB2 > Q6 > Deesser > L1. The delay readout is high, around 75

(I do not wanna go RTAs, already have 3 PSP VW inserted, hitting the G4 800 cpu heavily)

So I inserted the L1-DLA and now the readout is over 100!!!

If this plug compensates the delay generated by L1, why doesn´t the readout change?
Sorry for the overdumb question

however, I have not felt a major difference at the final result.

Also, what are the main differences between L1 and L2?

Which is best: Power dither (my favorite up to now) or Waves IDR?
Thanks
Nice wekeend to all

The L1-DLA is supposed to _add_ delay, the exact amount for compensating an L1 placed on _another_ track. You're supposed to put the DLAs on the other tracks that don't get the L1, to delay them to match the L1 tracks. It'd be nice to have a DLA that adds negative delay, but that isn't possible.

Yeah, compensating for delay is a real pain, and I sometimes just slip the track forward in the edit window and mark how much I slipped it in the track comments for that track. That has its own issues though - it can complicate editing and automation with grouped tracks.

The ARC release time. It makes a large difference though - you can go quite a bit deeper into L2 before it sounds bad. With L1, anything over 3dB or so starts to sound nasty, and with L2 you can usually use 6-7dB of gain reduction without serious problems.

My favorite is PowR also, but dither is a subjective thing. There are several flavors of PowR and IDR also, so any real comparisons would have to be more specific. In general, I tend to prefer dithers that are less heavily shaped, unless the material is very aggressive. But, that's just my preference. If you like PowR, then I say you have good taste!

Take care,

Wow, thanks man!
Wow, I thought the negative delay was already possible. I´m thinking too much in transfer functions F(s), poles and zeroes lately-lol

Any Reason why you're not using the 'Time Adjuster' Plugin? Lately I put it on every track, then check the Track Dly, and adjust all other tracks to the highest delay incurred.
