Hi everyone, I currently have a Project II/882 20 system running on a beige mac G3 and I'm thinking of upgrading soon to a g4 and either a 001 or 002.
I like the idea of the 002 (especially for portability if I got a TiBook) but I've read that it's not compatible with 3rd party music apps yet I write music for short films so Logic compatibility is important for SMPTE, etc, but for my recording clients it would be really nice to have the PT LE software. Any word on when the 002 will be compatible with Logic et. al? Thanks! |

According to an Emagic programmer on the Logic User's List, Digidesign is currently refusing to divulge the protocol for the 002. Speculation (but a pretty safe one) is that Digi wants to keep the 002 "ProTools Only".
It's actually the reason I decided to skip the Mbox until www.usbaudio.com made drivers for it, so I'm thinking they'll realize soon that they're losing business rather than gaining it with this policy. And the reason I'm even considering jumping in with the 002 is not Digi's support for 3rd parties but the knowledge that smart 3rd party coders are probably trying to hack it as we speak. Digi...these people are your friends. |
