CAN'T RECOVER DATA FROM CD ROM ON MAC

I HAVE A DATA CD ROM THAT WON'T MOUNT ON TO THE DESKTOP OF MY POWER MAC G4. ANY WAY THAT ANYONE KNOWS TO RETRIEVE THAT DATA

is it a sample cd? Macs won't ready Akai sample CDs, for example, without a special utility program.

Thanks for your reply. I just solved the problem. It seems that the guy who gave me the CD Rom did not finalize the CD. He may have hit the write session option instead of write CD. I was able to get it working by finalizing the CD. It now mounts fine
