Move iLok 2 license to iLok 1?

I have an old red iLok 1 I got with Pro Tools M-Powered a number of years back. I only have a couple licenses on it at this point, just GTR3 and Pod Farm. I will be getting PT M-Powered 9 that comes with an iLok 2. Will I be able to put my PT9MP license on the iLok 1 and sell the iLok 2 on eBay?

Yes, that will be fine for Protools, but be aware that some newer plugins require the Ilok 2, such as those by Slate Digital. More companies may be requiring that in the near future, so you may want to hold on to it to keep options open.

Given that some newer plugins are requiring iLok 2, I would keep it Just an opinion. I would also keep an old one as a spare and probably consider buying the iLok ZDT insurance. If the main iLok gets lost, busted or stolen(all of which happens all too often), ZDT can get you back up and running with the least amount of hassle.
