Default Advice on PC for Virtual Soundcheck

I need to make a recommendation regarding a bare bones no frills use it only to record and playback for Virtual Soundcheck PC. All of the mixdown etc for projects would be done on another system. Recommendations for this in the PC world. (yes I'd rather get a Mac, but budget doesn't allow for it)

Default Re: Advice on PC for Virtual Soundcheck

The last two systems I've built used Gigabyte boards. They are rock-solid. No complaints. I wouldn't advise you to go overboard with it, since you are just tracking. I'm still rocking a G5 with dual 1.8GHz processors and she is doing great. I'd recommend that you try out a SSD for the OS. A couple of folks have done that, and are fairly happy. Obviously...I'd still recommend you use an old-fashion HDD for your audio storage. SSD is a great idea, but it is still fairly young. It is a low slower when writing files to the disk, the most critical part for us audio dudes.

I know how you want a Mac and all. In my honest opinion, there is nothing like running ProTools on a Mac. Have you looked on say eBay for some used G5's or MacPro's? Hope this helps a little...
